Ole!

Tenoch Mexican Coffee House adds a twist on coffee drinks (think Mexican chocolate mocha and dulce de leche latte). When coupled with a perfectly flaky and delicate empanada or creamy flan, you might feel that you have stumbled across Aztlán.

- A mix of both classic and new/interesting baked goods is essential. Cake Crumbs in Park Hill is solid for its basic and dependable selection, but it rarely has anything that is out of the ordinary and that keeps it from being great. For example, I always enjoy a great chocolate chip cookie, but I also like to try new things. A rotating menu of experimental baked goods always draws me in. - Good coffee! Mediocre coffee is everywhere. Great coffee is not. My favorite local coffee roast is Draco from Luna(http://stores.lunaroasters.com/Detail.bok?no=33). - This one may be only for me, but I like it to be personal / to feel like the place is MY neighborhood haunt. I like it when places post pictures of their customers, etc. I don’t want to feel like I am hanging out in a Starbucks. - Interesting/informative descriptions for each item in the bakery case to entice me into trying them. So many places put out a huge selection of goods, but I have no idea what they are and, sometimes, it is difficult to get help figuring it out.

Mixology

Williams & Graham in the Lower Highlands neighborhood of Denver, CO isn’t yet known for it’s amazing eats, but maybe soon. In the meantime, one of the most noteworthy attributes of this speakeasy styled bar is the array of fresh fruits, veggies and unique old-timey spirits and bitters set out along the bar. The mixologists here use these ingredients to — almost magically — construct amazing cocktails worthy of center stage.

She’s also a nerd who knows everything there is to know about high altitude baking and offers to answer questions on all things baking on her website.

Oh, and try the Bees Knees cupcake. Mmmm!
